A few thoughts concerning the movie "Passion of Christ" collected from various commentators and critics.... the movie mainly shows how Jesus is being humiliated, beaten and flogged, the lashings of which are so severe that no man could possibly survive.... demonstrating the devastating effect of the lash when brought down on a wooden desk one can see splinters fly, leaving deep marks in the wood.... in the movie Jesus endured this cruelty for what appeared to be an eternity, and when the flogging of his back was finally over, he got the same almost endless treatment bearing down on his chest.... we see an unprecedented level of bloodshed, a veritable blood freakout.... one could envision the "Passion of Christ" being shown at Satanic get-togethers.... it exhibits a morbid sado-masochistic obsession that borders on psychosis.... one could even suspect that Gibson has a satanic agenda.... suffering and cruelty are exaggerated to such an extent, even the Roman soldiers of Jesus' time might have been outraged to see such savage brutality inflicted on a helpless soul.... nowhere does the bible even hint at such extreme, physically unbearable cruelty as shown in that movie....
If you want to know what really happened to Jesus at the hands of conspiring enemies, go directly to where the actual Passion starts (just click on it).
To read about events in Jesus' life leading up to the Passion, start here with His life story.... for nearly a hundred years acclaimed to be one of the most sensitive and beautiful presentations of the earthly life of Christ.... named by the curator of religious books for the Library of Congress to be the most beautiful book ever written on the life of Christ.
- first published 100-years ago - Desire of Ages - full Version, considered by many experts to be one of the most accurate and spiritually helpful biographies ever written on the life of Christ - simply beautiful and pure - of high literary value as seen from a worldly perspective. If the book had come on the market today, it might have been appropriately titled "Love & Passion of Christ"
